UNIVERSITY REBRANDING AND QUALITY ASSURANCE

Role: Consultant, Graphic Designer, Developer, Quality Assurance

Tools: Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Asana, Blackboard

Process: The client had a large catalog of online courses to maintain and brought me on to assist in rebranding their courses and implement quality assurance standards. Their online program enrollment was growing rapidly and there was a distinct need to ensure any course looked, felt, and operated in a standard manner to ensure a smooth student learning experience. This meant reviewing some of the oldest courses in their catalog and giving them a bit of a makeover.

The first step was to edit all course schedules for clarity and ensure new branding and style requirements were met. The same process was executed for the course syllabi and ensure the information in both the schedule and syllabus match each other and the content. Additionally, I edited course outcomes and policies on the syllabi and cross-referencing schedule and syllabi information to ensure consistency throughout all courses.

The second phase of university rebranding was to address the course content that had not been quality checked with consistency across all subject areas. I assisted the client in creating a quality assurance checklist and implemented the standards in over 50 courses. Fonts had to be replaced, HTML code edited, course settings adjusted, and course media reformatted to ensure that any student, from first-semester freshman to seasoned doctoral students, had a consistent learning experience.

The final piece of the project was to update the existing course banner template to new design standards and create unique course banners for over 100 courses. I updated the client’s banner template, provided training videos and documentation for the instructional design team to use the template effectively, and created for the current course projects we were working on.
